Whats Up?
Hello Music Friends,

This is the time of year that I always look forward to.  Usually starting in January, I begin making phone calls and sending out emails trying to book as many “gigs” as possible.  It is always fun and challenging to book new venues and fill my summer schedule with as many performances as possible.  This Friday (May 6th) officially starts my busy summer season so I will be sending out emails a little more often to let you know about my schedule.  I will also be passing out hardcopies of my schedule but I’m waiting to hear from a couple more venues, and I’m booking a few more dates before I finish typing and printing my schedule.

Every Wednesday this summer I will be back at the Boathouse in St. Joseph and every Friday I’m at Rivers Edge in Benton Harbor.  Every Saturday I will be at Frankie’s in Union Pier, Michigan. At Frankie’s I start at 10 pm and go until 2am so you can bet that I will be sleeping in late morning every Sunday!   All of my Saturday’s are also double booked this summer with ten performances at the Round Barn Winery in Baroda and a few at the Clipper Ship Gallery in New Buffalo.  My summer schedule filled up early this year so I was only able to book a couple of dates at the Lighthouse mall in Michigan City but very happy that I’m able to perform there at least a coupe of times.
Along with the email reminders, you can also see my complete schedule at my web site (www.carlpayne.com).

Also wanted to let everybody know that I’m starting to put a shop together again so I can start making musical instruments.  I have dug out some of my jigs and blueprints and I’m looking forward to getting back into making musical instruments.  I will try to keep you posted on my progress.

As the summer progresses there are often changes or adjustments made to my schedule so please don’t hesitate to call me or the venue to make sure there haven’t been any changes.

Summer 2011 is promising to be a very productive and fun season. If you get a chance, stop out to one of the many Wineries, Outdoor Events, Restaurants or Campgrounds and lets talk, maybe share a glass of wine or just enjoy some of the beautiful things that Southwest Michigan has to offer!

Sincerely,
Carl Payne
